I can attest to the brain benefits of okra. My west african husband makes an excellent okra/kale/fish soup. It’s swimming in vegetables. I’ve been struggling w. mild depression for about 5 months. I had the stew for dinner one nite then again for lunch the next day. I experienced an immediate boost in mood, concentration, focus. I’m certain some nutritional deficiency might be compounding my symptoms, but that instant lift I experienced after consuming the okra is definitely worth scientific investigation IMO.
In the morning, before I take a bath and even take my breakfast, I take my 1 liter of water with raw sliced okra soaked in the water the night before. Hmmm, very slimy but taste yummy. It rejuvenates and maintains my blood pressure to normal. I don’t have to have BP maintenance drug at the age of 59. My diet focus is more on uncooked foods, fruits (vegetable type and fruit type) and leafy vegetable juices e.g. malunggay with a little honey in it. I haven’t had any drugs since 25 years ago, all plant based and uncooked ones serve as my medicines. It feels great to be healthy and and to be enjoying life as you age. Let food be our medicine.
